- A.R.T.® Workshop
- A Two-Day pre-registered
Program
- Presented by Anthony Porter
- Anthony Porter, a qualified remedial masseur
first began using Reflexology in 1972, and from 1980 until 1990 was the
European director of the International Institute of Reflexology. He
reluctantly relinquished the post in 1990 to enable him to focus on new
directions in Reflexology.
-
- Through his many years in practice Anthony
conceived and utilized various reflexology techniques which through
clinical experience and constant refinements were found to greatly enhance
the overall therapeutic potential of the therapy. These were gradually
developed into a system which could either be used on its own or in
conjunction with the generally accepted methods of application,
particularly the Ingham Method® of Reflexology.
-
- Based in his home city of London, Anthony
teaches ART internationally and is continually receiving enquiries from
the public for treatment with therapists trained in ART.
-
- His techniques have been medically
recognized to be extremely effective in the treatment of various
gynecological conditions, a field in which he specializes.
-
- The Principles of Advanced
Reflexology Training (ART®)
-
- The techniques demonstrated at ART®
workshops represent a system that can be integrated with the more orthodox
types of techniques, which form the foundation of reflexology.
-
- ART techniques form a comprehensive,
therapeutically effective ‘clinical’ method of treatment. Additionally
they have proved to be highly successful in encouraging the body’s
innate restorative energy, thus creating a healing response for a wide
range of conditions.
-
- In a conventional reflexology trial on
patients with dysmenorrhea (severe period pain) at Whipps Cross Hospital
in London, a leading consultant gynecological surgeon, Mr. Lindsay
McMillan worked closely with Anthony Porter (Founder/Director of ART).
-
- After nine or ten months it became obvious
that ART techniques had a success rate in alleviating severe dysmenorrhea
in the region of 85% - 90%, whereas in surgical treatment success was less
than half that figure.
-
- ART techniques can best be described as ‘an
Evolvement of the Original Concept’ , therefore the techniques are only
taught as part of post-graduate training. It is essential that the student
has undertaken and is qualified in the correct foundation training such as
the Ingham Method® of Reflexology.
-
- ART techniques are generally more
concentrated and deeper than the more orthodox approach. Although they
have been devised for clinical use the techniques can be incorporated into
a general treatment.
-
- Subjects included in the
workshops are:
- The true meaning of the painful reflex
- What is a disturbed reflex
- The four main disturbed reflex textures and
how to interpret them
- Over treating and how it can cause
ineffective results
- Often treatments of 15 minutes are far more
effective and indeed necessary
- How to work out the disturbed reflexes - the
sequential approach
- Other topics will be discussed including the
major significance of the Endocrine glands and the Neuro-hormonal system.
-
- Prerequisites: Must
be a Certified Member of the International Institute of
Reflexology or proof of Certification from another Reputable School
of Reflexology.
-
- Two-Day Program:
Wear comfortable clothing for practical application. Participants are
responsible for their own lunches.
